Things to Do in Galway

Quay Street

Quay Street is the centre of the lively downtown walking area in Galway. Great shops, Pubs, restaurants are all there or a block away. Live entertainment and happy friendly people, regardless of weather is the rule. A great Street in a beautiful city, the jewel of western Ireland,

Salthill Promenade

We had a lovely walk from our campsite along Salthill Coastal Path into Salthill Village and we enjoyed Coffee and Scones In co co’s cafe . Wonderful place would recommend a visit.

Galway’s Latin Quarter

Galway’s Latin Quarter is the ultimate Authentic Irish experience. Going post covid I would recommend booking restaurants/pubs in advance. We booked places and pub hopped, getting starters at each place as food is required to have with drinks at the moment (due to Covid).

Galway Bay

We took a leisurely stroll along the bay! It was quiet and beautiful. Love the row of colorful houses that line the channel. It’s just a short stroll from the lively Latin Quarter.

Aran Island Ferries

We travelled with these guys recently and just had to say that we enjoyed every step of the experience. Great advice about the Aran islands, local knowledge is hard to find anywhere today before you travel. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful. this is a people business who recognised us as curious travellers.

Galway Cathedral

What an impressive building. It is absolutely awesome. The sheer size and detail of the inside is unbeleiveable.it is well worth a visit.

Eyre Square

There is nothing like enjoying an afternoon in Eyre square on a sunny day. lots of restaurants and bars nearby. In there is the Christmas market which is a great addition to the area, as there a lot of activities anyone can enjoy.

Rinville Park

Beautiful park, great for solo walks, dog walking or family walks. Great playground for kids 4years+, wooded area with a fairy trail. There’s usually an ice cream van which also has coffees and teas. Plenty of benches to sit down along the way and plenty of parking.

Galway City Museum

An excellent museum combining national and local history. Great exhibits and plenty of written materials to explore on each floor. A sensory area is available for children needing a quiet space and there is a lift. Pre book for a timed slot.

Rathbaun Farm

Galway Atlantaquaria

We recently visited the Atlantaquaria in Salthill and we were extremely surprised by the quality of the exhibits, great taught and effort had been put into the design of the building to accommodate such a variety of sea life.
